Summer is finally here and look what I have for you! 30 ACTIVITIES for your PRESCHOOLERS all about sea life and the ocean! This learning pack is a collection of activities we worked on for years at home with my two boys and has everything you need for weeks or a month long of learning. These are engaging, educational, and most importantly fun! Most of the activities encourages the parent/teacher to use manipulatives which promotes hands-on and play-based learning. These activities are designed for 3-4 years old (preschoolers or kindergarten) and they aim to immerse the child in the concepts rather than force them to memorize.
Here’s a glimpse of the activities included in this learning pack:
FEED THE SHARK NUMBER REPRESENTATION
The child will count and sort out the different number representations and match them to the shark number symbols. Vito loves this activity as I mentioned in our FEED THE SNAKE version (which is FREE FOR DOWNLOAD!)
CUTTING STRIPS
Children love cutting and I added these strips to provide the child/student with the opportunity to cut. The strips are easy to cut and are perfect for younger children to practice their cutting “snippets” of paper skills.
TEN FRAMES MATCH
We used this activity in so many ways. First, we used the bucket number symbol as number cards to provide the exact number of fishes represented by the number. We used the Fish Counters from Learning Resources, these are highly recommended!
Next we used the ten frame cards to match them to the number symbols. To check for his/her work, the child can count the number of fish counters and see if they match the count in the ten frame cards.
Here’s my son’s finish work. If fish counters are unavailable you can use any manipulatives like glass nuggets, pebbles, pompoms etc.

BEGINNING LETTER SOUND MATCH
Continuing our practice for beginning letter sound, an A to Z beginning letter sound puzzle is provided in the learning pack.
NUMBER PUZZLES
Our ocean themed learning pack has number puzzles for 1 to 5 and 1 to 10. You can start working with 1 to 5 and move on to 1 to 10 as your child progresses. This is a wonderful activity for reinforcing concepts of ordering, counting, number recognition, and number progression.
FISH SHAPES PLAYDOUGH MATS
Who doesn’t love playdough? My son is obsessed with it! So I integrated that into our learning pack and made some shapes forming activities so we can practice identifying shapes and making them as well. This activity is great for little hands and for strengthening hand muscles! Your kids will love squishing, rolling, and flattening the dough to form the shapes.
